Wine to Survive the Heat Wave.

Heat and Arielle do not get along. At all. I actually and literally despise it. In my perfect little world, I would be wearing a sweater and boots while cooking hot pasta, probably listening to Joy Division, and drinking smokey red wine. There are several things to appreciate about summer to be sure, but I’m a winter gal. As I’ve been sweating and contemplating death, while also pondering on what the hell wine is going to not only quench my thirst but cool me down, I’ve stumbled upon some good ones.

Now, I’m normally not a Cider kinda girl. But this heat has me craving the bubbly apple stuff. My friends over at Tilted Shed Cider Works have 2 stellar ciders that have been the perfect pairing to my crop tops and air conditioning. The Graviva is a blend of 100% organic fresh-pressed Sonoma county apples giving a high tannin, low acid, bittersweet, and semi-dry cider. That was a mouthful. But this particular cider is a mouthful of goodness especially on a hell of a day, which has been every day for the past month, tbh. My other fave from Tilted Shed is the Top Work dry Cuvee. This is a bone dry cider with high tannins, which I prefer, made with organic apples from a 2015 harvest. A slightly dirty taste (in the best possible way) with equal notes of tart and sweet.

I don’t know what it is about heat and sweets, but I’m into it. Give me the coldest and sweetest wine possible, please and thanks. When it comes to Riesling I want them sickly sweet and German as f*ck. Alsace Riesling works too, but Mosel is better. True German Rieslings can be tricky to find unless you have a import shop that you dig, (find one if you don’t have one already. Get off your Napa Cab train.) and they can run on the pricier side. But have no fear, your wine blogger friend Pourstyles is here, pour kids. I have found a great $10 bottle by Dr. Loosen and from the region of Mosel. Hallelujah. Apple, pear, honey, peach, apricot, orange peel, violet flowers..need I say more? Give me a beach and a bottle of this Riesling and your girl is getting tipsy and tan.

I can’t leave out Rosé from my hell heat wine list. I have blog posts, Instagram posts, even Facebook posts on my love affair with pink wine so it’s really hard for me to pick just 1..but I got chu. Let’s go with Vanderpump Rosé at $17.99 a bottle and easily found at any market you walk into. I have bought this a few times and I always feel as bougie as Lisa Vanderpump after inhaling it. Strawberry, tangerine, and peach are the stand outs in this Rosé but this bottle intrigued me because of it’s subtle notes of pepper and red currant. It’s French so it’s on the dry side and it is pretty damn dreamy. Highly recommend pairing this wine with a bikini and a hot boy, but that’s just my opinion.

I’d love to hear what your favorite wines are in 80+ degree weather! Leave me some comments and let’s chat.

Talk soon, babes. xx Arielle
