Should we all be a little more Carnivore?

I recently added a beef liver supplement into my diet after my inspirational super-model health goddess friend (@carasips) told me about the immense benefits of adding nutrient dense red meat into your daily caloric intake.

Trigger warning for all vegans – You aren’t going to like this post.

I am all about feeling good and whenever there is a new hip trend in health, I always am the first to jump on board. I recently started acupuncture as a monthly ritual and I was told by 2 different doctors that I needed to incorporate red meat into my diet every day. They each took one look at my tongue and said, yep.. you can’t be vegetarian. How they could tell, I’ll never know. But I believe them. I’ve always been iron deficient and feel incredible after eating a steak.. so maybe this carnivore diet is on to something?

There are a few dietary changes I have made in order to keep up with my red meat intake and since eating a cheeseburger or filet mignon every single day just doesn’t seem entirely possible or healthy, I have found a few other options. First and foremost, much to my husbands dismay and disgust, I swallow a huge pill of beef liver every single morning. After reading the benefits, I really couldn’t refuse.

Beef liver is one of nature’s top superfoods. It’s rich in nutrients like iron, vitamin B, selenium, choline, and zinc and it is known to support numerous health factors from fertility to athletic performance. It also has amazing beauty benefits with claims to help hair growth, clear skin, and promote an undeniable energy amongst everyone who partakes. I’m on my first month of beef liver capsules, and I am excited to let you know how I feel.

I have also started incorporating bone broth into my daily diet. Bone broth is sworn by celebrity culture like the Kardashians for getting mass amounts of collagen, aka the anti-aging nutrient, into their diets. Bone broth is also used in weight loss techniques for having a low calorie broth to replace other unhealthy snacks you may be gravitating towards throughout the day. It doesn’t taste great, but my acupuncturist told me to add lemon juice and salt to sweeten the flavor. You can also cook veggies, ramen, or soup using bone broth if you really can’t handle it alone. Sometimes a beauty ritual doesn’t have to be put physically on the skin, but can be done sipping while scrolling through TikTok instead.

For you ‘all or nothing’ personality types, there is actually something called the carnivore diet, where you essentially do a cleanse, using only animal products. This means no veggies, fruits, grains, nuts, or carbs of any kind. This diet was founded on the belief that a high-carb diet is the cause of all chronic disease. The carnivore diet is known to boost weight loss, improve mood, and regulate blood sugar levels. Carbohydrates are your body’s preferred energy source but when there are no carbs to burn, your next resort is burning fat. This fat comes from the the foods you eat and essentially, from the fat on your body. Some people feel great once they rid carbs from their diet because they don’t have wild mood swings from blood sugar levels, and eating meat is not as inflammatory.

Of course, with any diet, there are serious risks. Eliminating anything from your diet can always lead to consequences and my rule of thumb is typically to eat intuitively. If something makes you feel good, do it. If something makes you feel bad, don’t. I think there is definitely a benefit of adding more protein and eliminating more sugars, but any sort of extreme is just that. Extreme. If anything, do the carnivore diet for 7 days and then slowly start adding your fruits, veggies, and grains back in your daily routine and use this method as a gut reset and cleanse.

So here’s your sign to start eating more red meat if you want energy, beauty, clarity, and health. I’m on my carnivore journey and I can’t wait to start feeling good every single day.
